Valve Releases The Complete List Of 2023 Steam Awards Winners

Valve Corporation revealed their full list of winners for the 2023 Steam Awards, with some predictable names coming out on top.

Article Summary

  • Valve Corporation announces the winners of the 2023 Steam Awards.
  • Popular titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 win, despite not releasing in 2023.
  • Baldur's Gate 3 takes home the coveted Game of the Year award.
  • The Steam Awards winners are chosen by the gamers who own and play the games.

Valve Corporation finally wrapped up the year with the 2023 Steam Awards, as they released the full set of winners earlier today. Every year, the company likes to show off who you and they believe are the top video games of the year, so they do their own awards ceremony where you vote on the games you believe deserve to be recognized in certain fields. The catch, however, is that you can't vote for games you don't own. In other words, no one can spam the vote beyond getting a group of people together who also happen to own the game to vote for their favorites.

The idea behind it is that you're getting a much more genuine voting pool made up of people who actually PLAYED the game. But it also has the drawback of less popular games just never having the votes to make it past titles that clearly have a bigger audience and more downloads. So, titles that sell well will always have an advantage. Which is how this year kind of turned out, and in many ways, and shows how skewered the voting can be, as Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last Of Us Part I (two games that did not come out in 2023) snagged awards. You can check out the full list of winners below and form your own opinion about them in our comments.
