Blizzard Is Looking for a Vehicle Designer for its Unannounced First-Person Shooter
An open position for a designer with experience in vehicles has been spotted on Blizzard's recruitment site. This role is for the publisher's unannounced first-person shooter game.
As spotted by ResetEra (via VG247), the role of Senior Software Engineer, Gameplay, Vehicles makes reference to… well, vehicles. The listing says:
Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented gameplay engineer to help create vehicles and build vehicle handling features in a robust first-person engine for an unannounced project. The ideal candidate has proven experience in vehicle handling, with exposure to other game systems like physics, animation, and cameras. They must have outstanding people skills and a longstanding passion for playing games across multiple genres and platforms.
My feeling on this is this would be for very specific vehicle sections in a wider game as opposed to a game dedicated to cars or anything of the sort. We might be waiting some time for 'Heroes of the Kart Racing'.
This project has been slowly building over the last few months, with small whispers about it slipping out here and there. My guess (and hope) is that it is some kind of campaign based Overwatch game. A story-focused version of the online competitive game that would take the IP in new directions. Honestly, it could be anything, though, from something in the Starcraft or Diablo universe to a brand new IP altogether.
