A Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster Might Have Been Teased By EA
Back last year, the official word from EA was that fans shouldn't expect remasters from the publisher as they wanted to focus on new content going forward.
It looks like that has changed. Speaking to GameInformer Patrick Soderlund, executive vice president for EA Studios expressed that the company is now actively looking at remasters. Specifically, when asked about a Mass Effect remaster and if the company had changed policy, he said:
What's changed is that there is proof in the market that people want it, maybe more than there was when we spoke. There were some that did it before, but I think there is even more clear evidence that this is something that people really want. The honest answer is that we are absolutely actively looking at it.
That last sentence is particularly interesting. It could suggest that EA have confirmed interest in the franchise specifically, but it could be a more general comment on the remasters as an idea. I actually lean more towards the latter, but if the company is looking at remasters seriously, I don't see much more in their back catalogue that would make more sense than the Bioware classics.
