EA Will Ramp Down Their E3 Presence This Year In Favor Of Community Based Events

EA Logo

EA have been one of the massive presences at E3 for many years. The publisher has held a major press conference (after Microsoft on the Monday prior to the expo) and was the first thing you'd see when walking into the South Hall, a gargantuan booth covering all their wares for the next year.

That won't be the case this year. The company has announced it will have a reduced presence at the show this year, instead hosting EA Play, an event open to the public (which E3 is not). It won't go far though. It is moving practically next door to the LA Convention Center to the  Nokia Theater, as well as holding an event in London.

On top of that, the publisher has moved its conference from the comfortable slot on the Monday to the Sunday now. That will take place at 4PM ET.

As a goer to E3, it certainly will be weird not to see EA in the Hall this year, but hey. It spaces out coverage and gets actual fans in to play stuff, so this could all work.
