Hearthstone 2018 HCT Summer Championship Results: Day Two – Semifinals
After two sweeps followed by two of the longest matches of the entire tournament, we made our way into the Hearthstone 2018 HCT Summer Championship Semifinals.
Semifinal Match One: A83650 vs. killinallday. Winner: A83650 (3-0)
A8 took an early lead after killin tried to force him into a situation that would have given him a great position, but luck of the draw gave A8 a chance to dominate and take the 1-0 lead. Early into the second game, it looked like killin was prime to even it out, but A8 managed to squeeze out a victory after wiping the board and finishing it off with strong attacks for a 2-0 lead. The last game wasn't even a question as A8 swarmed killin with attack after attack and widdled him down and led to a clean 3-0 sweep.
Semifinal Match Two: Viper vs. Bunnyhoppor. Winner: Bunnyhoppor (3-2)
As the final two German players in the tournament went head-to-head, Viper started strong right out of the gate and scored a 1-0 lead in short order. The second match drew itself out a little longer than we expected after some early battles, but Viper claimed his second victory to go up 2-0. Bunnyhoppor was not about to go quietly into the night like the previous sweep, rallying back to get a victory in the third game to make it 2-1. Bunnyhoppor made sure to let Viper know he was not going down without a fight, battling back in a long drawn-out crusade to get back to being tied 2-2 and forcing a fifth game. The final game of the match had both men on equal footing until Viper was left with a cooldown period and no good cards to get out of the cycle. Bonnyhoppor cut his health all the way down for the reverse sweep and making an all-European final for the Hearthstone HCT Summer Championship.
