There Will Be No 'Maker' Spin-Offs For The Nintendo Switch
Those of you who have been hoping for Nintendo to make a new version of Super Mario Maker, or even a port, or perhaps a spinoff of the series… you may be waiting a lot longer than you think. In an interview with Game Reactor about Breath Of The Wild, series producer Eiji Aonuma addressed the idea of there being a Maker version of The Legend Of Zelda, to which he quickly dismissed the idea.
"Well, I'll keep it in mind that there are people who could appreciate that then! But this is not something we considered."
You'd think that all of the drop-down Zelda games from the NES, SNES, and every version of the Game Boy and DS models would be ripe for creating dungeons and fantastic lands for different versions of Link to explore. Could you imagine the possibilities? It would be like giving fans their own Nintendo version of RPG Maker. This comes off the news from a few months ago that there are currently no plans to port Super Mario Maker over to the Nintendo Switch, or create a new version of the game for the console. It's another one of those ideas that seem like Nintendo are passing up a license to print money. Maybe if enough fan support comes out, they'll actually reverse that decision.
