Archie's Here: Vintage Video Presents The Archie's Show
While on one of my weekly Target runs I decided I needed to beef up my Disney Blu Ray collection. Of course while there I noticed a familiar goofy grin looking at me on the cover of a DVD: my redhead overlord, Archie Andrews.
For $5 I couldn't walk away from this DVD. Right off the bat I can tell you this was released to try and make some money off of the Riverdale hype, since the The Archies Show Movin' And Groovin' DVD advertises to have "10 RIVERDALE HIGH ADVENTURES" which is a good way to confuse anyone not familiar with Archie or Google. The DVD is pretty much straightforward though. The title menu offers you two choices: play all or select and episode. All of the episodes are from Funimation's The Archie Show and feature two of my favorite songs "You Make Me Wanna Dance" and "Seventeen Ain't Young". The Archie's were pretty talented for a fake band. The video quality is actually really good. The colors are clean and bright, and it runs for 106 minutes. That's a good bit of Archie!
There isn't much else to really say. It's a good addition for any Archie fan. It's nostalgic and fun, but if you're buying this thinking it's going to be similar to Riverdale you'll be in for a surprise. It was hard for me to find the DVD online, but so far I've seen it at Wal Mart and eBay for $11. It's $5 at Target so you may as well save yourself some money and buy it there. There are a few other cartoons in the Vintage Video collection including Dick Tracey. For the price it's worth picking up the whole set.
