Forza Motorsport 6 Announced – New Ford GT Is On The Cover

The Forza franchise is really getting into a groove of alternating releases. One year, we get a Forza main game, the next, a sequel to Forza Horizon. Last September we got Forza Horizon 2, which by all accounts was a great game. That's why it should surprise no one Forza Motorsport 6 has been announced during the North American International Auto Show.

On top of that, it was also reveal that the title would feature the new Ford GT on the box. Microsoft, Turn 10 Studios and Ford announced a partnership on the Xbox One game, bringing not just the Ford GT but the car company's performance vehicle line-up to the game. That includes the GT, Shelby GT350 Mustang and F-150 Raptor.

In the wake of the announcement, Turn 10 Studio's Creative Director Dan Greenawalt said:

Just as Ford has pushed the boundaries of car technology in GT, 'Forza Motorsport 6' will embrace that spirit of innovation as our most technically advanced racing simulation to date, offering a fun and realistic automotive experience for both car lovers and gamers.

That sure is a lot of corporate back-patting, but that's to be expected around these kinds of unveiling. I do really like of what little I played of Forza Motorsport 5, both as a racing sim and as an early showcase of the Xbox One's graphical capabilities. Lets just hope the next game is less marred by in game microtransactions.
