Is There A Hit Girl Movie In The Works Instead Of Kick Ass 2?

Let's join some dots. Purely speculation. Nothing more, let's make that clear. No inside sources. Just reading between the lines.

Exactly.

Mark Millar has been teasing a "huge announcement" that will make Kick Ass 2 fans "very happy".

There seems to be no sign now of a Kick Ass 2 movie. Vaughan and Goldman are looking elsewhere, and a new director/production team for a spinoff rather than a sequel would go down better.

Chloe Moretz suggested this week that regarding Kick Ass 2 there was news…"Something, something we've got up our sleeves."

Moretz also hasn't had a box office hit since Kick Ass and seems rather keen to get back in the purple.

The Hit Girl mini series was meant to launch in September, set between Kick Ass and Kick Ass 2 to fill the gaps in delayed shipping. Then Leandro Fernandes was dropped from the book, despite having drawn a number of pages, and John Romita Jr was on board the Hit Girl mini series again, rewritten as to be a sequel to Kick Ass 2 – and possibly with an older Hit Girl?

Something that could take advantage of Moretz' passing years? Could a Hit Girl film have attracted John Romita Jr back to the comic, with the increased royalties and public profile the movie would bring?

Mark Millar has been publicly pointing out the preponderence of people dressing up as Hit Girl in cosplay and for Hallowe'en of late.

The speculation is… could this activity all be because of a now-planned Hit Girl movie, to be announced shortly?

No idea, this is nothing but specualation. But it would be a rather neat fit…

Cut to next week's announcement of Kick Ass 2 from a new writer and director.
