James Wan Addresses Adding a Character During Aquaman Reshoots
Last week Aquaman director James Wan announced that Randall Park was added to the cast to play Dr. Shin in reshoots. It wouldn't be the first time a director added a character during reshoots, but "reshoots" has become a dirty word in Hollywood. YouTuber Grace Randolph wondered how Wan was able to add a fairly big character in the Aquaman mythos with an up-and-comer like Park and no one noticed. Wan replied to the video clearing up that this wasn't a last-minute addition.
Wan went on to talk about how he's had reshoots with almost all of his movies, and this isn't even the first time he's shot footage of a new character in reshoots.
So does all of this mean that Aquaman isn't in trouble? That it's going to be brilliant? We really can't make the call one way or another at this moment, but "reshoots" needs to stop being a dirty word. They happen all the time with almost all movies, and to assume a movie is going to be bad because of reshoots is silly. There are plenty of reasons a movie can fail, and even if reshoots are involved they are hardly the only thing to sink a particular ship.
Summary: Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world.
Aquaman will be directed by James Wan and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, and Willem Dafoe. It will be released December 21st.
