Jurassic World 2 WIll Be Scarier But Not Necessarily Bigger Says Colin Trevorrow
Jurassic World was a neat little refresh to bring the franchise into a more modern hollywood scene. It unsurprisingly did really well too, meaning we are in store for a sequel.
We now have a nice idea of the tone the new move too. Speaking on the Jurassic Outpost podcast (via EW) the first film's director Colin Trevorrow spoke about what we can expect from Juan Antonio Bayona's sequel. He said:
It will be more suspenseful and scary. It's just the way it's designed; it's the way the story plays out. I knew I wanted Bayona to direct it long before anyone ever heard that was a possibility, so the whole thing was just built around his skill set.
However, Trevorrow did say we shouldn't expect the scale of the movie to increase.
I don't think that bigger, better dinosaurs or bigger, more epic-in-scope action sequences are what people are necessarily looking for from this franchise and what they love about it.
Bayona is certinaly well accomplished with 'scarier' work, so a tight, small scale horror story about dinosaurs trying to eat people sounds actually very enticing. Obviously it still has to be watchable for the whole family, but a more threatening edge would be really cool .
