Mark Feuerstein's 9JKL May Be The Worst New Show Of 2017
Mark Feuerstein starred in the USA drama Royal Pains for eight seasons where he played the likable doctor Hank Lawson who gets fired by his hospital and dumped by his fiancee only to end up as a concierge doctor in the Hamptons living in the guest house on a private estate. It was a fun show and he was quiet charming. He then moved on to play in the Prison Break revival series earlier this year and now stars in a new CBS comedy he co-created with his wife Dana Klein called 9JKL.
The title is reference to three apartments all next to each other in New York. Feuerstein plays Josh, a former television star that was dumped by his wife and moves back into the K apartment with his parents on one side and his brother and sister-in-law on the other. No on in his family seems to know the word boundaries and just watching the first look trailer below… the humor feels more creepy than funny. And this is loosely based on Feuerstein and Klein's real life.
The series also stars Linda Lavin, David Walton, Elliott Gould, and Liza Lapira. And if I was a betting man I'd put money down on this being the first show cancelled in the new season. The only good reason it won't be is that it doesn't debut until October 2nd while some shows start this month. This looks painful and no where near the quality you'd expect for Lavina nd Gould to be part of it. In truth, I hadn't even heard of the show until I was looking around and saw some really bad reviews. So I had to take a look for myself. It's so bad that 5 of the 7 TVLine staff members picked it as their show to skip.
I watch this trailer and the one for Me, Myself and I and all I can think of is… what did they pass on?
