Matthew Perry To Miss Out On Friends 'Reunion'
Is it a dream come true? Twelve years after going off the air, the cast of Friends will reunite on NBC for a two-hour special. But it isn't exactly about Friends…The special is a tribute to Friends' legendary comedy director James Burrows, who also helmed iconic series such as Taxi, The Bob Newhart Show, and Cheers. Burrows directed 15 episodes of Friends, including the pilot, and recently shot his 1,000th episode of television.
I'm going to lightly call this a Friends Reunion, because my fear is that it will really be directed more towards honoring Burrows. However, I totally understand the hype of the Friends cast being back together again. Even if they were only shown in a small part of the special, I'd tune in. The sad news is, Matthew Perry, who played Chandler on the show won't be able to attend. It's not surprising really. For all of them to be available at the same time would be a stretch.
Perry's spokeswoman, Lisa Kasteler said this:
"Matthew will not be attending as he is in London in rehearsals for his play, The End of Longing."
The special will air on Sunday, February 21st.
