Michael Biehn, Lance Henriksen to Star in Audio Drama of William Gibson's 'Alien 3'

If you've ever wondered what William Gibson's unproduced script for Alien 3 could have been, you're in luck.

Dark Horse Adapts Unproduced William Gibson's 'Alien 3' Script for Comic Book and Audio Drama

Dark Horse announced back in 2018 that they were creating a comic book mini-series based on Gibson's unused script, which had it's 5th and final issue release in March of 2019. Turns out, that wasn't the END- as we're getting an audio drama version of Gibson's script too!

Directed by Dirk Maggs, the Alien 3 audio drama will feature a new cast along with two familiar faces of Michael Biehn and Lance Henriksen returning to their roles of Hicks and Bishop, respectively.

Gibson penned the original Alien 3 script in 1987 as a sequel to 1986's Aliens (directed by James Cameron) which was a sequel to the 1979 original Alien (directed by Ridley Scott). All starred Sigourney Weaver as protagonist Ellen Ripley.

The Alien 3 that was produced in 1992 was directed by David Fincher and written by Vincent Ward with screenplay developed by David Giler, Walter Hill, and Larry Ferguson. Despite mixed reactions, 20th Century Fox concluded the Ellen Ripley quadrilogy with 1997's Alien: Resurrection.

One of the main differences between the two versions of Alien 3 is in the Fincher film- SPOILERS- Ripley ended up the lone survivor from LV-426. Bishop only made a cameo as she temporarily reactivated him, but Hicks and Newt died in the crash. Gibson's story had all four surviving rather than just Ripley.

Audible describes the Alien 3 audio drama:

Audible is bringing William Gibson's lost Alien III script to life in audio for the first time, to mark the 40th Anniversary of the birth of the Alien Franchise.
Alongside a full cast Michael Biehn and Lance Henriksen reprise their iconic roles as Corporal Hicks and Bishop from the 1986 film Aliens.

Father of cyberpunk, William Gibson's original script for Alien III, written in 1987 as a sequel to Aliens, never made it to our screens, although it went on to achieve cult status among fans as the third installment that might have been after being leaked online.

This terrifying, cinematic multicast dramatization – directed by the multi award-winning Dirk Maggs, is the chance to experience William Gibson's untold story and its terrifying, claustrophobic and dark encounters between humans and aliens, as a completely immersive audio experience.

The story begins with the Sulaco on its return journey from LV-426. On board the military ship are the cryogenically frozen skeleton crew of that film's survivors: Ripley, Hicks, Newt and Bishop.

We travel aboard and hear an alarm blare. Our heroes are no longer alone….

Starring: Tom Alexander , Barbara Barnes, Michael Biehn, Cliff Chapman, Samantha Coughlan, Ben Cura, Dar Dash, Harry Ditson, Mairead Doherty, Lance Henriksen, Graham Hoadly, Lorelei King, Laurel Lefkow, Martin McDougall, Sarah Pitard, Michael Roberts, David Seddon, Andrew James Spooner, Siri Steinmo, Dai Tabuchi, Keith Wickham, Rebecca Yeo

The audio drama will be available on May 30th on Audible.
