Sony Has Revealed 2 Spider-Man/Marvel Release Dates in 2020
Venom might have received a critical mauling but it is killing at the box office at least internationally. At the time of writing Venom has made $780 million at the worldwide box office with over 70% of those numbers coming from international markets. The movie is a hit, despite the reviews, which means Sony might have the foundation they need to build the Sony Marvel movies that were announced. We might have an idea of when those movies are going to come out now too. Justin Kroll from Variety posted to his twitter account that Sony has announced two release dates for Spider-Man related Marvel properties in 2020; July 10, 2020 and October 2, 2020.
Kroll specifically says that the latter date is a sequel and considering that there's only been one movie in this series so far we can guess that the October 2nd date is going to be Venom 2. As for the July date Jared Leto has revealed that production for Morbius is set to start soon so that is likely the July 10th date.
At the moment the only Sony Spider-Man related movie coming out in 2019 is Spider-Man: Far From Home which is not quite the same thing and 2020 is way too soon for a third Spider-Man movie. Venom is a hit so maybe this writers dreams will come true and that movie based on Silk aka Cindy Moon will actually happen.
Summary: When Eddie Brock acquires the powers of a symbiote, he will have to release his alter-ego "Venom" to save his life.
Venom, directed by Ruben Fleischer, will star Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, and Michelle Williams. It's out now.
