Traitors? Mindless Speculation About Doctor Who's Nightmare Scenario
Last night's Doctor Who, The Zygon Invasion, had a few plot complaints. Kate Lethbridge-Stewart going to New Mexico by herself, a small but stupid UNIT armed force… and I did think the use of the word "traitors" by Lethbridge-Stewart to the Zygons – and then the Zygon Clara's use of the same word to the UNIT forces was odd.
I noted in this piece how every character of power in this episode who was human or Zygon was portrayed as female. I'm wondering if they were all Zygon.
Was Lethbridge Stewart as we saw her from the beginning, the Zygon Lethbridge Stewart, and has been since The Day Of The Doctor? And she regards the rogue faction as traitors to her race?
The UNIT armed force – were they Zygon too? Explaining the few numbers available to them?
Can Zygons tell is another Zygon is a Zygon? Maybe not….
The Zygons in a number of factions, those in the high command, those in UNIT, are trying to deal with the rogue problem internally. Not involving the humans, just the Time Lord. They are trying to take responsibility and solve the problem themselves.
And that is how you deal with the rather nationalist and xenophobic message that the episode veered towards. In this case, there is no Other they are all Zygons, except for the Doctor. And maybe Jac.
Could everything we're seeing be just inside Osgood's Nightmare Scenario. But trapping everyone to play it all out in the Nightmare Scenario is the way to contain the radicalized ones and making them learn that it won't end well.?
Is it The Osgood Box? Or is it JJ Abrams' mystery box?
Mindless speculation…
