Happy CM Punk Day! Here's a Preview of Tonight's AEW Rampage
AEW Rampage will air its second episode tonight, titled The First Dance, with everyone tuning in to see if CM Punk will show up as has been heavily, heavily implied without outright saying it. AEW would be making a big mistake if they didn't deliver Punk after all of that, so it seems like a pretty sure thing. Here's what else is planned for the show.
In the main event, Jon Moxley will take on rising Daniel Garcia. Garcia is an accomplished indie wrestler who previously appeared in an enhancement talent role on AEW's YouTube shows, but Garcia moved to a bigger stage when he teamed with 2.0 to take on Moxley, Eddie Kingston, and Darby Allin on Dynamite two weeks ago. Garcia and 2.0 also jumped Moxley and Kingston at the start of this week's AEW Dynamite, and now Moxley and Kingston will settle things 1-on-1 on AEW Rampage tonight.
Here's what Garcia had to say about the match after defeating Matt Sydal on AEW Dark Elevation on Thursday.
Moxley had a little something to say about it as well on AEW Dynamite this week.
Next up, former Impact Wrestling Knockouts tag team champion Kiera Hogan will face Jade Cargill. This will be Hogan's big AEW TV debut, and she brings experience and charisma from her time in Impact and could easily become a top star in AEW's women's division. Cargill is less experienced, but has a great look and is clearly being pushed by AEW, so either woman could easily pick up the win tonight, and Hogan can undoubtedly help the greener Cargill look good in the ring.
Finally, Jurassic Express will take on Private Party in the first match of the AEW Tag Team Eliminator tournament, the winner of which will receive a shot at the Young Bucks inside a steel cage at All Out. For Jurassic Express, who lost to the Bucks on Dynamite this week, it's an opportunity for revenge and another chance at finally "winning the big one." Private Party seem to be more involved in Hardy Family Office Drama than a chase for the belts, so Jurassic Express seem to be the obvious victors here, though it should be a fun and athletic match.
All of that, and the debut of CM Punk. It should be a pretty big night for AEW.
Rampage airs at 10PM Eastern time on TNT.
