Konami Has Secured Partnerships In Argentina And Chile For PES 2018

This week Konami made a couple announcements around exclusive partnerships and license agreements in Latin America for its much-anticipated title, Pro Evolution Soccer 2018. The license agreement in Argentina will see all clubs in the Primera División of the AFA faithfully recreated in PES 2018, as well as allow KONAMI marketing rights for various promotional activities.

Konami has also entered into an exclusive agreement with one of Chile's top football clubs, Colo-Colo. The partnership awards Konami with exclusive in-game licensing rights, positioning PES 2018 to be the only video game where fans can play with the esteemed football club, which means they will not appear in EA's FIFA 18, which is PES's main competitor. Additionally, Konami signed a licensing agreement with another leading football team, Universidad de Chile, allowing fans to play with all 16 licensed Chilean teams in the first division of the Chilean football league in PES 2018.

The other highlights of the deals include:

  • Claudio Palma and Aldo Schiappacasse as the new Chilean commentators
  • Inclusion of Ivan Luis Zamorano and Marcelo Salas as the PES Legends from Chile
  • Inclusion of Rodolfo De Paoli and Diego Latorre as new Argentine commentators

Both DePaoli and Latorre will bring an enhanced realism and authenticity to PES through their animated commentary and expert analysis during matches. De Paoli is a former footballer who is currently an Argentine sports coach and notable journalist. He presently serves as reporter on "Fútbol Para Todos" on Telefe, as well as provides commentary on Argentina national football matches for TyC Sports. Latorre, who is also known as "Gambeta," is a former Argentine professional footballer, known for his distinguished positions as a striker and an offensive midfield playmaker. Latorre is currently a sportscaster for Fox Sports Latinoamérica.

Meanwhile, with more than 20 years of radio and television broadcast announcing, Claudio Palma is one of the most recognizable voices in Chilean football. His expert analysis paired with Schiappacasse's renowned play-by-play will be strong additions to PES 2018.

"Our partnership with AFA, as well as the addition of Rodolfo De Paoli and Diego Latorre as commentators, are all proof of our commitment to creating the ultimate football experience for football fans in Argentina," said Takayuki Kubo, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "Argentina has some of the world's most passionate football enthusiasts, so we are thrilled to share these exciting announcements for PES 2018 as we deliver a more premium football game to the market."

These new developments add even more licensed figures and teams into the surprisingly lucrative game, which has helped the company form "high hopes" for the continued success of the games industry as a whole. It also helps them up their game against their mainstream competitor, which is one of EA's juggernaut sports franchises.
