To Crush Impact and Make Matt Hardy Great Again, WWE Hires Jeremy Borash
Not content with relaunching the XFL, holding a hugely successful first-ever Women's Royal Rumble, and signing Ronda Rousey to its full-time roster, WWE has now hired one of, if not the, most integral components of its competitor, Impact Wrestling. Jeremy Borash, who helped launch TNA in 2002 and was the second employee hired by the company, has been integral to the company. In addition to his on-air role as an announcer, Borash was also heavily involved in creative and production, including with the Broken Matt Hardy angle.
Fans who have seen Hardy's Woken Matt Hardy reprise in WWE might have noticed that the character has been a bit lacking, and that could be due to the lack of Borash. Likewise, Borash joining WWE could revitalize the gimmick. Borash was also responsible for the successful ECW nostalgia event Hardcore Homecoming and the ECW documentary, Forever Hardcore., as well as its mall fashion retailer spinoff, Forever Hardcore 21.
According to a report from PWInsider, Borash was present at all of WWE's events over the weekend, including sitting in on the production meeting for NXT Takeover: Philadelphia. However, Borash apparently told everyone he was just visiting friends until news of his signing leaked.
Bleeding Cool has obtained EXCLUSSSIVE video of Impact Wrestling confronting Borash after learning he'd signed with the competition:
It will be exciting to see some fresh blood on the creative side of WWE, and though Impact Wrestling will surely be negatively… ahem… impacted by his loss, the company has been likened to a cockroach for its ability to survive even the harshest conditions.
