The Warlock of Firetop Mountain Classic RPG Now an Audio Drama
Way, way back in the halcyon days of 1982, Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone released The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, a revolutionary blend of Choose Your Own Adventure style story telling with role playing game mechanics. Readers would generate a character with limited attribute scores, then proceed through the story, making die rolls at critical junctures in the book, which would then determine the outcome of a battle or story encounter. The first book launched the Fighting Fantasy series of books, which published adventures in many genres, including fantasy, science fiction, and horror environments.
The Fighting Fantasy books were very popular for decades, and a brand new series has just been launched by Scholastic Books, with Ian Livingtsone's The Port of Peril published in August of 2017. Scholastic re-released five of the original Fighting Fantasy books with brand new artwork, and has also published another six original works to the series. The most recent book was The Gates of Death by Charlie Higson.
Now, Fighting Fantasy Audio Dramas is releasing The Warlock of Firetop Mountain as a fully acted and produced audio drama, featuring voice work from Rachel Atkins (Fable 3, Dragon Age II and III) as Vale Moonwing, Tim Treloar (Doctor Who) as Cassius Stormblade, and Toby Longworth (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) as Zagor, the villainous warlock of Firetop Mountain himself.
Join elven hero Vale Moonwing and adventurer Cassius Stormblade on their quest through the depths of Firetop Mountain. Can they survive the deadly traps and evade Zagor's army of the undead? Can they stay alive long enough to confront the dark warlock himself?
The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is available as either a direct download, or a Limited Edition CD, which also includes a download. Still curious about the project? Here's a handy trailer with a snippet of the drama!
