Excalibur Returns In January's X-Men Gold Annual, With A Cover By Alan Davis

Rejoice, true believers! Marvel's 37th most popular mutant team is making a comeback in January as Excalibur returns for X-Men Gold Annual #1. Marvel announced the book, from writers Marc Guggenheim and Leah Williams and artist Alitha E. Martinez, (a true fan who knows who Squirrel Girl is) at New York Comic Con. Then they announced it again for good measure today in a press release, claiming no single writer could handle the return on their own:

This January, get ready for an X-Men story so big, Marvel enlisted two superstar writers to bring it to life. Written by Marc Guggenheim (X-Men Gold) and Leah Williams (Secret Empire: Brave New World) with art by Alitha E. Martinez (Black Panther: World of Wakanda), the original Excalibur team will reunite for an exciting adventure that both long-time fans and new fans can enjoy.

But getting the gang back together proves to have its own challenges…and who is the new Braddock bundle of joy?

Who indeed? We'll do our best to spoil that before the issue hits stands. Until then, enjoy this cover from Excalibur co-creator Alan Davis:

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
