Marvel Announces Avengers Forever From Jason Aaron and Aaron Kuder
Marvel Comics tweeted out the news as part of their 82nd anniversary Timeless announcements. "In Marvel Comics' 'Avengers Forever', @jasonaaron and @AaronKuder present an all-new series that will redefine the Avengers as…the Multiverse's Mightiest Heroes. #MarvelComics"
Jason Aaron has been writing the Avengers series for many years now, expanding the roster in the type of Marvel character who can be an Avenger, as well as writing a long storyline with Mephisto revealed as the true instigator behind the existence of the Avengers, including the far future and far past versions also introduced by Aaron, leading into Heroes Reborn and now a massive event conclusion with Avengers #750 and the Multiversal Masters Of Evil. With a new Phoenix Star Brand, Squadron Supreme and a very nasty version of Phil Coulson, living in an abandoned Celestial corpse, and having to deal with enemies within – gorillas rather than moles. It looks like Avengers Forever will continue the multiversal versions of the Avengers with a Tony Stark who is an archeologist rather than arms dealer, secretly Ant Man rather than Iron Man, and basically doing a Marvel version of Infinite Frontier at DC Comics right now…
Marvel Comics' Avengers Forever pulls together archeologist Tony Stark aka the Invincible Ant-Man and Avengers from across the multiverse to bring order to timelines where 'hope' is a four letter word. Jason Aaron and Aaron Kuder present an all-new series that will redefine the Avengers as…the Multiverse's Mightiest Heroes.
Here's a reminder of where we are with the Avengers on Free Comic Book Day… as someone was messing with the timeline a million years ago.
Which has to mean the Avengers 1,000,000 BC. And the big reveal and tease going forward for the Avengers confirms that, as we meet the young Thanos that Mephisto influenced to attack Earth and form that very first Avengers team. Alongside the Black Skull mashup of Red Skull and Venom from the Heroes Reborn universe created in homage to Mephisto. And other variants we have yet to meet besides, including a Goblin Rider and a Hound Wolverine and possibly the skin-suit-wearing Doctor Doom variant from Mark Waid's FF? Given that the Loki TV series emphasised the idea of Variants, and he's been heavily involved as well, with expectations for Doctor Strange and Spider-Man movies. It seems that this is where Jason Aaron is going as well. Avengers Forever!
