Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Features Unique Indie Hip-Hop Soundtrack

Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma, is a new third person action "hack and slash" video game, and the sequel to the original Afro Samurai video game based on the animated series of the same name.

The game is going to be released in three separate installments, each with its own story arc, characters and fighting styles featured, but it's also going to have a unique soundtrack by indie hip-hop artists mentored by RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. RZA has been the music director on the franchise since the original animated series.

Hip-hop artist Big Sean spoke about using independent artists for the soundtrack, saying:

I'm all about giving people opportunities. I think a lot of new talent will be discovered through things like this. What I appreciate about [Afro Samurai 2] is that it's good music, good rap music, good storytelling. It takes it back to the basics of hip-hop…The music helps tell the story.

David Robinson, lead designer on Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma and President and Founder of Redacted Studios comments:

We have the rap which comes and tells the story of the scene you're actually playing—and that's what makes it a phenomenal integration of sight and sound. It's literally a hip-hop opera. You're listening to the rap because it's telling you what's going on in the story that you are playing.

Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma is now available for digital download on PC and PlayStation®4 with a release on XBox One at a later date. For more information about the game, visit www.afrosamuraigame.com, facebook/afrosamuraigame, or on Twitter @afrosamuraigame.
