BBC Two Series Peaky Blinders Holding Open Casting Call For Young Actors This Weekend
This weekend in Birmingham, the casting team behind hit BBC Two series Peaky Blinders will be holding open casting calls for young actors needed for roles in the show's second season.
This Saturday, January 11th, casting pros will be looking for two vaguely described types:
MALE: Aged 13 – 19 – White
MALE: Aged 15 – 17 – Mixed (black/white) parentage
No acting experience is necessary and the producers are "looking solely for enthusiasm and an interest in acting." Here are the exact details:
DATE: SATURDAY 11TH JANUARY 2014
TIME: 11AM – 3PM
LOCATION: VIVID PROJECTS, 16 MINERVA WORKS, 158 FAZELEY STREET, BIRMINGHAM B5 5RS
The Cillian Murphy-led historical drama follows the true life gang known as the Peaky Blinders, so named for sewing razor blades into their hats. Murphy's gang leader Tommy Shelby clashes with Sam Neill's Chief Inspector Chester Campbell, a detective in the Royal Irish Constabulary recently sent to Birmingham to clean up its criminal activity.
I've never seen the show, but it certainly sounds intriguing and Brendon assures me it's excellent. Filming on season 2 begins in early 2014.
