Sometimes you know you are in trouble with your boss. And then other times you KNOW you are in trouble with your boss.
When the head of Warner Brothers Jeff Robinov comes onto your set because your film is running 5 day behind schedule, you know you are in trouble with your boss. When he then sends producer Dennis Di Novi out as the "studio representative" to oversee the production you KNOW you are in trouble with your boss.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production of Fury Road has veered off schedule and off budget. They had been sending executives back and forth to Namibia, where the film is shooting, but Di Novi has now been stationed to remedy the issue. Warner Brothers said:
It's easier having someone there who has experience and who can keep us posted on the day's events
The director, George Miller, has had a history of going overbudget before, but Robinov has given him a show of support by saying that he is optimistic that the film will finish on schedule.
Of course this doesn't mean anything for the quality of the film, which stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, but it surely can't make things easier for Miller. Having a "Studio Representative" standing behind your back reporting your every move to your bosses must be a bit of a nightmare.
