Someone's About to Go All Dark Phoenix in This X-Force #9 Preview

Ah, X-Force, a series whose run was cut short far too early thanks to the oncoming Hickboot. However, before Jonathan Hickman relaunches the X-Men line in July, we've still got two issues left, including X-Force #9, in stores this Wednesday. That means two issues to wrap everything up, including, presumably, the return of Rachel Grey.

Rachel disappeared after Extermination, taken into custody of the Transian government after they captured Ahab and traded to Stryfe in the future, where Stryfe is using Rachel, still in the form of a mindless hound, to lure the remaining resistance into a trap. This preview of X-Force #9 shows the titular heroes, X-Force, in a battle at that location…

But elsewhere, Rachel appears to be about to break out from under Stryfe's control. The reason? A voice calling to her. Could it be the Phoenix Force itself? Perhaps it wants her to get free in time to go to the movie theater and see X-Men: Dark Phoenix while it's still out!

Of course, Rachel might prefer being under mind control if she's a movie critic.

X-Force #9 hits stores on Wednesday.

h/t Newsarama for the preview.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
