Wizard World Philly Checklist: Sketches, Variant Covers, Sex Toys? Updated

When I go to a comic convention and I see a rabbit… I'm expecting it to be either Bugs Bunny or Bucky O'Hare. Maybe even a group of cosplayers who have mashed together the Avengers with the Playboy Bunnies. What I'm not expecting is a vendor selling sex toys. But as artist Franchesco points out via his Facebook page… the Rabbit Company is on hand showing off their wares.

The company has up a display of lingerie, plugs, pumps and vibrators and what appears to be a few ladies working the booth whose identities have been protected by a digital sharpie. There doesn't appear to be an comic or pop culture tie-ins. No products that we can see called the Terminator or the Punisher.

But all joking aside, this does seem to be a very odd vendor to have placed in a comic convention. There's no indication that this is in a special, adults only section of the convention. This seems to be a very poor choice of a vendor at something that is supposed to be a family friendly event.

Checking the Wizard World Philadelphia website I could not find the Rabbit Company specifically, but I did find two exhibitors listed which could be the same place.

Risque Boutiques
A series of adult toy innovations, lingerie and events.

Pure Romance
We are an in-home party company & we offer an exclusive line of relationship enhancement products.

This check also shows exhibitors selling heat packs, pain relief, psychic readings, insurance, charter academies, DNA testing and self storage. At this point, can the still call themselves a comic con?

UPDATE

Since the story ran, we've been told by representatives of Wizard World that once it was brought to their attention, that vendor was removed from the show. They point out that they have to deal with hundreds of vendors and that it is sadly possible for a vendor to not be forthright about all of the products they intend to display. It is their belief that, while they are working very hard to make the best show possible, they have the strictest and cleanest standard in the industry on what is and isn't allowed to be sold at their shows.

We're told that they had over 450 vendors, close to 400 artists and 40 celebrities set up this past weekend.

And while it is very possible that the vendor in the photo misrepresented themselves to the convention staff and displayed products that went against the convention policies… It's hard to miss the fact that two of the exhibitors listed on the Wizard World Philly website included, "adult toy innovations" and "relationship enhancement products" in their descriptions.

It's also good to note that the Wizard World website is no longer showing details from this past weekends event nor can you choose Philadelphia in the list of shows to view.
