A Bloody Groundhog Day: We Played "12 Minutes" At E3 2019

For this year's E3, we were only able to book one appointment with Xbox at the Microsoft Theater, so we took advantage of it and checked out 12 Minutes. Developed by Annapurna Interactive, the game has you playing a husband just coming home from work where your wife has a special surprise for you during dinner. The minute you enter the door, you are now caught in a 12-minute loop of time where if you don't stop events from occurring as they play out, you will be killed and sent back to the beginning of the loop when you first enter the apartment. Each time you come home you collect information and are able to fast-track through several events in order to get to the truth. This opens up new branches of dialog with your wife you would have had before and new options in the apartment.

We played through the game for a couple of loops with some other journalists in the room and found the game to be pretty fun. Right now it's still in development, so we didn't have full voice and the animations weren't as smooth as we're sure the devs would have liked. But we got the overall presentation and were hooked from the start with the story. This has the potential to be one of the best titles on the Xbox One when it officially releases, which as of right now we don't have a release date for it yet. But considering the storyline and the potential of how you can change your own future, we're so down to play this game all the way through immediately. You check out more about 12 Minutes on the game's official website as we wait for updates to come in the weeks and months ahead.
