Alolan Marowak & More Unlocked For Pokémon GO Fest 2020
Niantic has announced that Pokémon GO players have successfully unlocked six special spawns for next week's Pokémon GO Fest 2020. This is the first time that the event will be held remotely, and as the date draws nearer, speculation as to what will be featured during the two-day event builds. Notably, Niantic is leaving the fate of nine possible Pokémon in the hands of players of the mobile app. The three weeks leading up to GO Fest have been marked by three events and three Special Limited Research Challenges. Each week, one of the teams was assigned a Pokémon, and challenged to complete the research. If one million or more trainers from each time successfully finish all of the tasks in quest line, that team's Pokémon would become a featured GO Fest 2020 spawn. In a major update, Niantic confirmed the inclusion of Alolan Marowak for the first time in the wild in the game's history, and more.
Niantic took to Twitter to announce that the first week of spawns have thus far been unlocked after trainers successfully completed the GO Fest Skill Challenge:
Whoa! Thanks to each team's amazing performance during the first #PokemonGOFest2020 weekly challenge, the following Pokémon will be appearing during Pokémon GO Fest 2020!
(Instinct) Chimecho
(Mystic) Alomomola
(Valor) Chansey
One million Team Instinct Trainers: Togetic
One million Team Mystic Trainers: Dratini
One million Team Valor Trainers: Litwick
Compared to the previous challenges, the Friendship quest line is far less intensive, which essentially guarantees that trainers will see Litwick, Dratini, and Togetic spawns come to GO Fest 2020.
