The U.S. Army today announced it is launching the free America's Army: Proving Grounds (AA:PG) game on the Playstation 4.  The game, which was released on PC in beta in August 2013 and in full in October 2015, has more than 1.3 million player accounts and 935 total years of play time.

"July 4th, 2017 is the 15th anniversary of the America's Army game. This may not be the first version of AA on consoles, but it is the best!" said Daniel Kolenich, executive producer for America's Army.

Bringing together the best of previous America's Army games, AA:PG stresses small unit tactical maneuvers and training that emulates real-world army training.  America's Army: Proving Grounds showcases the army by emphasizing "Army Values", teamwork, training, and completing objectives.

In other words, America's Army is the game franchise that will give you the authentic US Army experience from the comfort of your own home. Alongside incredibly realistic combat and weapons training, America's Army can also teach you some first-aid skills, like how to use a tourniquet.

The new Sandstorm mode will be available on PS4 before it makes the jump to PC, likely to make it up to console players for ignoring them so long.

For those of you who haven't heard of America's Army before, the game was developed in collaboration between the United States Army, Ubisoft, Sega San Francisco, and is published by the US Army. Yes, the American military put out a tactical FPS game based on real-world combat training.

America's Army includes 8 vs. 8 training exercises designed to sharpen small unit maneuver skills, as well as a variety of realistic pistols, shotguns, sniper rifles, grenades, and other equipment and military hardware. Players can customize their gear load-out, the camo pattern of the team, and weapon skins and optics. They can also apply medical aid to stop their own bleeding or assist downed squad mates to bring them back into the fight.
