Bungie Explains Destiny 2's Three of Coins

Bungie has clarified what the new Three of Coins item in Destiny 2 does exactly since it functions a bit differently than in the original game.

The Three of Coins is a consumable item available only through Xur for seven Strange Coins. You get five per bundle. Players use the Three of Coins because they increase the chances that the next biss you kill will drop an exotic engram. However, if you don't get an engram when you kill the boss, the buff goes away. To counter that, players would pop more Three of Coins for an increased chance of an exotic engram on the next boss.

In a forum post, the Bungie explained it increases the chances a player will earn an Exotic engram by 50 percent after completing an activity. While players already knew Three of Coins increased their chances of earning exotic gear, they didn't know by how much, due to ain incredibly vague item description.

Bungie also clarified that Heroic Strikes don't work with the item. As such, the studio is currently working on a fix they hope to release sometime in early 2018. Later this week, the developer will discuss additional aspects of Destiny 2 they plan to address in the future.
