Capcom decided to cap off 2023 with a quick social media post showing us what Akuma will look like in Street Fighter 6. With the series obviously moving in a new direction and introducing new characters, people have been wondering when they will eventually drop some returning faces beyond the initial roster. In a shocking move today, the company showed off an image of one of the most popular characters, confirming they will be returning to the franchise. Earlier today on Twitter/X, the team posted a new image featuring Akuma, as you can see here. Wishing fans well into the new year by saying, "Thank you for all the support you've shown Street Fighter 6 this year. Here's to more fights, gatherings, and content coming in 2024!"
The image is kind of interesting as he's got an Old Man Logan vibe going for him. Unless the black and white is throwing us off, it looks like he's aged heavily and gone completely grey, sporting a beard and a tattered Gi that looks like he's been hiding out in the wilderness all this time. There's no official date for his return to the game, so the fact they're saying 2024 could mean anything from tomorrow into late December. We'll just have to kick back and wait to see what Capcom does.
