Detective Pikachu is Coming to Pokémon Go as a Limited Time Event
Pokémon Go developer Niantic has announced a crossover event with the Detective Pikachu movie which is scheduled to hit theaters later this month. The event will run from tomorrow, May 7th at 1pm PDT to May 17th at 1pm PDT.
The Detective Pikachu event will increase the encounter rate for Pokémon that appear in the movie as well as feature more raids with Pokémon that appear in the film. Additionally, a new type of Pikachu will appear, this time with a cute little detective hat. You'll even find new avatar items and special field research tasks based on the movie.

- Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 1 p.m. to Friday, May 17, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT (GMT −7)
Features
- Select Pokémon featured in the movie will appear in raids.
- Pokémon that appear in the movie will show up more frequently in the wild.
- If you're lucky, you could be photobombed by a Pikachu in a detective hat—with a chance to catch one of your very own!
Bonus
- Double XP for catching Pokémon
Field Research
- Specially themed Field Research will be available for a limited time during this event.
Avatar Items
- Themed avatar items will be available in the Style Shop.
