Final Fantasy XIV Will Continue To Get New Jobs Until We're All Dead And Buried From Too Much Gaming

Final Fantasy XIV's game director Naoki Yoshida, often known to players by his handle Yoshi-P, confirmed all player's hopes and fears at once, by announcing that the FFXIV team plan to keep adding jobs to the game with every expansion. With the Stormblood expansion set to hit in just a few weeks, the game will be up to 15 playable jobs, which function essentially like classes, and are a staple of the Final Fantasy series.

Which is awesome, because it means I'll be able to level more tank jobs eventually. But also horrible in that now the 100% crowd will have a staggering amount of grinding to do by the time Square Enix decides to stop supporting the game. You know, in a few decades.

Yoshida confirmed that the job system would continue to grow past Stormblood in an interview with Polygon, to which all I can think to say is, "how is this in any way surprising?" The news springs from Yoshida's point blank answer to Polygon, in which he makes his intent pretty damn clear. Yoshida said, "I don't think we'll ever get to the point where we want to stop adding jobs. For future expansions, adding jobs is really important. We couldn't imagine not having new jobs. It's part of the Final Fantasy series, and everybody loves jobs."

With the new level cap set at 70 and 15 jobs to grind, not to mention the constantly updating end-game gear, well. Getting every job leveled to 70 and with a decent itemlevel is going to be one hell of a trial. But we all know people who will manage it, because this is how MMOs go. And Yoshida is no fool, he knows that for almost all of FFXIV's players, having a lot of high level jobs to your name is just something that we need. And much like with Final Fantasy XI, Square will continue to feed that need until we all die of exhaustion and malnutrition. Or spontaneous pneumothorax, which is a pretty common eSports injury, despite being literally awful. Lung collapse due to FFXIV overload, what a way to go.

Yoshida also confirmed that he will be remaining on the game, saying, "I don't get the urge to move on to a new game at all." He then went on to indicate that he felt any new ideas he got could be realized within Final Fantasy XIV

Square Enix recently showed off the changes they're making to the game's expansive job system in a recent video, which you can take a look at below.
