Kickstarter Tabletop Roundup: Terrain, RPG Zine, and Goblins

Kickstarter has drastically revolutionized the way we see new products reach consumers. Producers no longer need to borrow large sums of money from lenders to see their product in the hands of eager customers, and that is especially true with table-top games.

Every week, we round up the best or most intriguing crowd-sourced projects that are about to finish their funding cycle. We're looking for the unique, the exciting, or the just plain cool products that we can't wait to get on our tables!

Girl Underground designers Jesse Ross and Lauren McManamon are wrapping up funding on their RPG, which is set in the vein of popular adventure stories like The Wizard of Oz, Labyrinth, and Alice in Wonderland:

We begin with players collaboratively filling out the Girl's playbook to understand who the Girl is and what her life is like. What does her voice sound like? What does she want to be when she grows up? What is her biggest fear? What does she hide from her parents?

The role playing game will be presented in a zine-style format, allowing the finished project to come to press at a pretty reasonable cost. The game will use the popular Powered by the Apocalypse game system, and players take turns playing as the girl, while each controls one of her companions:

Each player then chooses a companion to play that will accompany the Girl on her journey. These companions draw inspiration from common archetypes, such as the Cheshire Cat (Alice in Wonderland), the Tin Man (Wizard of Oz), and Ludo (Labyrinth). Each companion has their own playbook with questions to answer, helping you develop their unique personality and relationship to the Girl.

The Kickstarter campaign for Girl Underground will wrap up on Tuesday, March 5th. This is a really unique and exciting way to approach a role playing game, and I can't wait to see how it plays in person!

The fine folks at Mantic Games are bringing a horde of new terrain options for just about every genre of table-top game with TerrainCrate 2. As you can see from the video, you're game sessions are about to get a lot cooler!

You'll have to chose the specific terrain packages you want, but with all of the stretch goals that have already been unlocked for each one you'll definitely be getting your money's worth!

Mantic makes some seriously great games and miniatures, so you can back this project with confidence. Funding ends for TerrainCrate 2 on Thursday, March 7th. Mantic does have a history of releasing these packages to retail outlets, but never at these prices!

Shieldwolf Miniatures is continuing their tradition of providing excellent alternatives for fantasy war-games players with this awesome collection of hard-plastic, multi-piece goblins. Plus, the video is dramatic as hell! It's hard not to get pumped up for these rabid little dudes (and their war-toads!!!):

There are a whole ton of options for gobbo fans, and the miniatures look fantastic and fun!

Funding ends on Thursday, March 7th. Shieldwolf Miniatures has already successfully brought two Kickstarter projects to successful completion, and make some incredibly great looking miniatures!

We'll be back next week with more new and notable projects that you can help bring to table-tops everywhere!
