Pokémon GO Reveals an Oddly Summery Holiday Event 2024

Niantic has announced a strange Holiday Event 2024 Part 1 that features some winter-themed spawns and other summer-themed Pokémon. Let's take a look.
Here's what's happening for the Holiday 2024 Part 1 event in Pokémon GO:
- Date and time: Tuesday, December 17, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 9:59 a.m. local time
- New Pokémon: While there are no new species coming to the game, a Galarian Pokémon is getting a new costume: it's Dedenne. Dedenne, wearing holiday attire, pictured above, will debut and will already have its Shiny form available. The event only lists it in Tier One Raids, leaving it absent from the Wild Spawns list. Coal for Niantic.
- Shiny release: Sandygast will be available in its Shiny form for the first time.
- Wild Spawns: Sandygast (can be Shiny), Alolan Sandshrew (can be Shiny), Alolan Diglett (can be Shiny), Swinub (can be Shiny), Delibird wearing a holiday ribbon (can be Shiny), Numel (can be Shiny), Snover (can be Shiny), Darumaka (can be Shiny), Litleo (can be Shiny), and Bergmite (can be Shiny).
- Event bonuses:
- 2× XP for catching Pokémon
- 1/2 Hatch Distance for Eggs placed in Incubators during the event
- Event-themed Field Research tasks will be available and will feature encounters
- Complete catch- and raid-focused Collection Challenges to receive Stardust, Poké Balls, and Great Balls
- Eggs:
- 7 KM Eggs: Hisuian Growlithe (can be Shiny), Pichu with summer flair (can be Shiny), Spheal wearing a holiday scarf (can be Shiny), Cubchoo wearing a holiday ribbon (can be Shiny), Amura (can be Shiny), and Charcadet.
- Raids:
- Tier One: Pikachu wearing a Winter Carnival outfit (can be Shiny), Psyduck wearing holiday attire (can be Shiny), Dedenne wearing holiday attire (can be Shiny), Sandygast (can be Shiny)
- Tier Three: Stantler wearing holiday outfit (can be Shiny), Glaceon wearing Undersea Holiday outfit (can be Shiny), Cryogonal (can be Shiny)
- Mega Raids: Mega Latias (can be Shiny), Mega Latios (can be Shiny)
- Paid Timed Research: For $2.00 USD (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you'll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research. Timed Research rewards include the following:
