Sega Ages Thunder Force AC Hits Switch In Japan This Week

There's a new Sega Ages title this week, and it's headed straight for the Nintendo Switch eShop. This time around, it's Thunder Force AC, and it's bringing some satisfying shoot-'em-up action to the handheld. Thunder Force AC is an arcade adaptation of Thunder Force III, which already appeared via the Sega 3D series on both the 3DS and Sega Genesis Mini. The difference here is that this version of the game utilizes the arcade board Sega System C2. But what's beneath the hood isn't as important as what's changed in-game.

The next Sega Ages game Thunder Force AC is hitting the Japanese eShop this week.

If you've played the original Thunder Force III, you'll notice some significant differences with Thunder Force AC. There are plenty of remixed levels that make this particular entry feel like a different game, as well as improved graphics and audio that you'll notice as soon as you start up the game.

This particular version will come with different ships as well as a special Kids Mode that makes the game a bit easier for younger players. Or maybe you're an adult just needing a break. It can get you together too, by increasing your attack power and helping you blast through the enemies like a hot knife through butter.

The game will run 999 yen and will be debuting on the Nintendo Switch eShop in Japan on May 14. There's been no official Englis release announcement, but there are other Sega Ages titles available to purchase. You can get games like Shinobi, Fantasy Zone, Puyo Puyo, and more if you're itching for classic Sega gaming.

It's possible we may see this particular release coming out in English, but Sega has been keeping mum on the matter just yet. However, the Sega Ages collection is always growing, so don't discount the idea of it too soon. It could happen in the near future, you never know.
