Shadow Of The Colossus' 79 Gold Coin Relics Achievement Revealed

In the original version of Shadow Of The Colossus, there were two specific collection quests you could do beyond killing monsters. You could find Fruit Trees which would increase your health meter, or you could track down and kill special lizards which would increase your stamina meter. When Sony released the remastered version for PS4, they added in a third quest where you could collect 79 "Enlightenments" which looks like sparkly bits of metal on the ground. People were curious what the goal was of all these treasures, and now we know. (WARNING! Spoilers ahead, don't keep reading if you don't want to know what we're talking about! You have been warned.)

As shown from the video below made by PS4Trophies, the 79 Enlightenments unlock a secret door that takes you to a cavern underneath the temple where you will pick up the Sword Of Dormin. What exactly it is? Well, it's a bit of a good news/bad news scenario. The sword, which sends out a black light instead of a white one to point the way, does double and in some cases triple the damage of what it normally would on colossus markings, but when you take damage your health bar is super slow to regenerate. You can even watch him use it on Valus near the end of the video to get an idea of what it does and whether or not its worth your time to seek it out. Enjoy!
