Square Enix Shared A Ton Of Screenshots For FFXIV: Stormblood

The upcoming Stormblood expansion for Square Enix's MMO Final Fantasy XIV will be coming with a new residential area, a new city, and now players can swim. I jokingly called that one to friends while playing Palace of the Dead the other night, and so feeling very, very vindicated right now. We also got a few more glimpses at the two new jobs announced for Stormblood – Red Mage and Samurai. The Red Mage stills look pretty familiar, but the Samurai shots seem new. Still no word on wether or not we'll get dancer as many players suspect.

After finishing up Heavensward with The Far Edge of Fate Pt 2, I have no idea how Samurai is a DPS class, it seemed very, very tanky. However, game director Naoki Yoshida has specifically referred to Samurai as a DPS class just like it was in FFXI.

In the massive dump of screenshots, we got a ton of environment shots hit to show off the game areas of Gyr Abania, Azim Steppe, Yanxia, and the Ruby Sea. The new city we get to explore is Kugane which is likely the main city of Doma, and then there's the attached residential area of Shirogane.

In addition to being able to swim in the Red Sea, players will also be able to dive under the waves, even while riding their chocobos. Because it's just not as fun if your large bird companion can't come with. The undersea environments look pretty awesome, and I'm pretty damn excited for it.

So, get ready to break out those summer beach outfits and put them to use. Stormblood will hit on June 26th, with early access available for players who pre-order the collector's edition.
