Tokyo Game Show & Taipei Game Show Sign Cross-Promotional Agreement

An interesting development in Japan this weekend as CESA chairman Hideki Okamura (Tokyo Game Show) traveled to Taipei during Taipei Game Show to sign a brand new deal with CESA that will expand both brands by doing cross-promotional events as well as exhibitions beyond Japan. This is basically the equivalent of Paris Games Week doing a deal with Gamescom, or PAX West working with E3. Below is a snippet from interview Okamura did with GNN about the deal, which we'll probably hear more details about in the months to come as we make our way to Tokyo Game Show.

What is the chance to promote the cooperation between Tokyo Game Show and Taipei Game Show?

Last year TCA (Taipei Computer Association) came to attend the Tokyo Game Show. At the same time, TCA representatives came to visit CESA directors and would like to invite CESA to come to Taipei Game Show to see. We think this is a good thing and started to exchange views with each other. It is very good to visit the Taipei Game Show at the opening ceremony of the Indie Game Festa district. It is quite friendly and trustworthy with the members of the TCA. We hope that by expanding the future exchanges by signing a friendly agreement tomorrow, we also feel that the Taipei Game Show Has a long history of 16 years.

After the two sides exchange and sign up, what cooperation plan will follow?

At the beginning, the signing is based on the promotion of the two sides. In the future, the two sides will propose proposals to each other. After discussions, there should be more specific cooperation.

The Tokyo Game Show (TGS) is an annual video game trade fair held every September at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. Organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association and Nikkei Business Publications, TGS primarily showcases Japanese video games but also includes international developers who present their upcoming games and hardware. The event lasts four days, with the first two reserved for industry professionals and the last two open to the public. Meanwhile, the Taipei Game Show, also referred to as TGS, stands as Taiwan's largest gaming convention that caters to both business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) audiences. It serves as a significant gateway for global game developers and publishers into the Mandarin-speaking market, drawing hundreds of thousands of gamers annually and providing a platform for indie developers to expand their reach.
