Transforming Cars At Will In 'The Crew 2' At PAX West
One of the cool off-sight presentations we got at PAX West this year came from Ubisoft as they set up their own press lounge for people to check out three specific games. Madeline will have her own words for Assassins Creed: Origins and our combined demo of Far Car 5, while I got to tackle The Crew 2. The demo was more of a tutorial guide in a sense as we didn't really get to play anything from the story or compete against a large group of people in this environment. This was more of a show-and-tell demo where we were told what to do and how to pull it off.
One of the fine mechanics they honed down in the game was the ability to switch between cars, boats, and airplanes on a whim. Meaning I can go racing down the street and into the Hudson River and transform into a boat mid-air, then swim around until I feel like flying. I got to take a tour of their version of Manhattan (while being told over my shoulder how un-Manhattan it looks by someone who lives there), then got put into a drifting race course in Central Park. We got to mess around with a few different race types as I crashed and burned in one version that was totally off road, while scoring first place on a traditional race track setting. The Crew 2 has great promise for racing fans, but I was more curious about the story, which we didn't get to see anything from.
