EA May Have Told Us How Many Xbox Ones Have Been Sold

Unlike Sony with the PlayStation 4, Microsoft don't like to flaunt around how many Xbox Ones it has sold. It's understandable too. They are lagging behind the PlayStation 4 considerably, and posting their numbers make the Xbox look like it is not selling in comparison, which isn't true. It's doing better than the Xbox 360 was at this point, and that machine sold very well.

But in case you are interested, during an investors call last night (via GamesIndustry), EA may have let slip how many are in the wild. CFO Blake Jorgensen said that the new generation has a 55 million install base. Take away the 35.9 million the PlayStation 4 has sold and you are in the realm of 19 to 20 million Xbox Ones in the wild.

None of this is exact obviously, and there could be other factors not being considered in this total 55 million number, but it gives us a nice idea where everything lies. One thing is definitely for sure though, consoles are selling like hotcakes, and that is great for the industry.
