Final Fantasy VII Remake Looks Like It Will Be Episodic [UPDATED]
So, this was a little unexpected.
There isn't a lot to go off of right here, but in a press release by Square Enix, it was hinted at that the Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to be episodic. The press release says specifically:
Final Fantasy VII Remake will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.
Honestly, I'm fine with this, but then again, I'm not precious over the first title. Episodic gaming can be done well and benefit the way a story unfolds, and this could be one of the few ways fans see the game within the next five years. I suppose it all comes down to the actual reasoning for this change up and if it's creatively driven.
Although granted, it's a pretty big structural change, so I do understand the trepidation.
