It Looks Like Death Stranding Is Set For 2018
If you have been hanging on every word of Hideo Kojima's, a fuzzy picture of Death Stranding is starting to build. It's said to be open world stealth action with some kind of 'inovative' multiplayer component.
What I am sure most people want to know though is when we can actually expect to play it. Speaking during a panel at TGS (via IGN), Kojima hinted, in a very Kojima way, when we can expect the game to hit.
He started off a little vaguer, saying we could expect the game before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but went a bit further than that too. In a very round about way to say it will be out before 2019, Kojima said:
To go a little further, there is a movie called Akira, and it will be out before the year in which Akira is set.
Akira is set in 2019, for reference.
Since the game is only just ramping up production, there is no way that it is coming next year, so he seems to be hinting at 2018 pretty deliberately.
Keep in mind, this is Hideo Kojima though, and this is a video game, so I would eat my hat if the game didn't end up getting delayed a couple times. I wouldn't write this one in your calendar just yet.
