Kojima Considered Many Other Offers Before Siding With Sony
One of the interesting things about Kojima's Production's reemergence yesterday was the company's decision to give developer their first game exclusively with Sony. This ensures the game will be a console exclusive on PS4.
Sony, unsurprisingly, weren't the only company interested in siding with Hideo Kojima though. In an interview with IGN, Kojima stated:
It's thanks to Sony that I was able to make a splash in the global market. It's been 10-plus years since then and the working relationship at Sony, the people at Sony, we gel well…. I got several offers from many different companies, but with Sony it came to a point where I know these people, they know me, we know each other well.
I feel like this is an environment where I will be able to make something and feel comfortable and I believe that's the environment I need right now.
You'd have to assume on of those international offers must have been Microsoft, which would have been a very interesting alternate reality. However, I'm sure most of the major publishers at least enquired. We will see what happens with Game 2 I guess.
