Nintendo NX Could Use Cartridges Says New Report
Cartridges and the NX have been words used in cunjunction several times in the build up to the console's reveal. With varying degrees of believabillity, it has long been rumoured that the new Nintendo console would use handheld like storage devices rather than a disc.
Well, these rumours just got a big boost. The Wall Street Journal, who doesn't often get stuff wrong about these kinds of rumours, is reporting that the console will indeed utilise cartridges. There isn't too much more to the story, but it does make sense. The idea of a hybrid handheld/home console seems all but confirmed at this point, and the 3DS uses the format, meaning there is precident.
However, it does also mean, unless there is a big upgrade, NX games won't be able to hold anywhere near as much data as PlayStation or Xbox Blu Rays. It does mean the games probably won't be quite as powerful. Still, an interesting move and I can't wait to see what Nintendo has done with it.
