PlayStation 4 Nears 36 Million Consoles Sold After Massive Holiday Period
The PlayStation 4 has just been an unstoppable monster since it released. While many predicted cooled console sales before this generation started, it has been anything but, with the PlayStation 4 in particular becoming one of the fastest selling consoles of all time.
The total number of PlayStation 4s sold now lies at 35.9 million according to Sony in a recent statement. The console specifically sold 5.9 million during the Holiday period defined between November 22, 2015 through January 2, 2016. That is in a holiday period where the console didn't have any significant AAA releases either, so it's pretty good going.
The PlayStation 4 has thus far defied every expectation and continues to just gain momentum. That's a good thing for gaming I think, so I'm just fine with that.
