Sony Boss Says That Connecting PlayStation Network And Xbox Live Is Possible

playstation-e3-2015

Microsoft recently said that they intend to reach out to Sony about creating games with cross-platform play between the Xbox and the PlayStation. It's one of the most radical propositions we've heard in a while in games , and now it's just a case of waiting to see if it ever comes to fruition.

Well, it seems at least on the technical side, president of Sony Computer Entertainment's worldwide studios, Shuhei Yoshida has said that even though it would be a little difficult, the technical aspect would probably be the easiest part of the negotiation. Speaking to Eurogamer, he said:

Connecting two different closed networks is much more complicated so we have to work with developers and publishers to understand what it is they are trying to accomplish.

We also have to look at the technical aspect – and the technical aspect could be the easiest. We also have to look at policy issues and business issues as well.

That last part is certainly the biggest worry. Is this move in the interest of Sony and PlayStation? That's the mountain that needs to be climbed if this is to happen, and I'm not all the way certain it will come to pass because of it. Still, I can hope.
