Titanfall 2 Is Confirmed For This Year But EA Aren't Afraid Of It Competing With Battlefield 1
The word for the past few months has been that Titanfall 2 is expected in early 2017. This came from from a financial report, which stated that game would be with us in the last quarter of the 2016 fiscal year.
However, with Mass Effect: Andromeda now confirmed to be slipping into that time period, Titanfall 2 has seemingly been brought forward. In this PDF, another financial report, it shows that Respawn Entertainment's next title is due out in the holiday period of this year.
You might be forgiven for thinking it a bold strategy to launch both Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 in the same window, but it seems EA aren't that concerned. In this transcript of the earning call by Seeking Alpha, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said:
There is a very broad and diverse set of players who play games in that category who are looking for – to fulfil different game play motivations.
Some people play very quick play, some people more strategic play, and some people want both in different context. The result [is] we feel like we actually have a really strong position to deliver the broadest set of gameplay mechanics as it relates to first-person shooter genre across the two titles, and feel very confident that we are well-positioned to do very well in that category [this] year.
It's hard to argue with that last statement. EA certainly around going to be strong in the FPS genre come the end of the year.
