Unsurprisingly The Resident Evil 2 Fan Remake Has Been Cancelled But There Is A Silver Lining…
Right before Resident Evil 2 Remake was being publicly thrown around a few weeks ago, a story about a fan made remaster had hit the web. It looked pretty interesting, repurposing the old look of the game in a Resident Evil 4 over the shoulder perspective.
That project has now been asked to close shop by Capcom, which is especially unsurprising now that the company is chasing its own official remake. What is nice to see though, is that Capcom have apparently been quite classy about it. In a Facebook post announcing that the team were ceasing production, it was revealed that Capcom had reached out to Invader Games, inviting them to a meeting to discuss ideas on the project.
Whether any of those actually make it into the final game is a whole other story, but it's great to see Capcom actually talking to these developers and working with them, as opposed to just callously bringing down the hammer.
